Today marks the 40th Birthday of one of David Bowie’s best albums, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Now, I’m not a diehard David Bowie fan quite yet but I must say, the playability of this album is incredible. The fact that this was created 40 years ago and is still a great album just confirms the fact that Bowie is a major musician from the 20th Century. I also watched an airing of the Ziggy Stardust Tour on VH1 Classic today, I was hypnotized the entire time. He’s just so magnetic it’s incredible. It also amazes me that he only released 2 singles from the album, but considering his songwriting pace at the time, it’s excusable.
So give the album a listen today and venture into a future that early 70s Bowie saw for the future of rock.
